European Union members are threatening the collective withdrawal of their ambassadors from Iran to secure the release of the British embassy employees being held by the authorities.

EU diplomats said tonight all the envoys could be recalled "temporarily" in solidarity with staff from the British mission in Tehran who have been accused -- entirely falsely, UK officials insist -- of involvement in protests over the "stolen" presidential election.

Obama will oppose them, to show the Iranian mullahs he is on their side.

...threatening the collective withdrawal of their ambassadors...

And if that doesn't work they are going to stomp their foot and hold their breath until they turn blue. Of course they will reserve the ultimate threat, a strongly worded letter, for the final action.

"Would Obama consider this to be meddling?"

I'm sure Obama thinks the French were wrong when they 'meddled' in the American Revolution.

The EU is actually doing something, while Obama is still waiting for his “engagement” telephone call from the Mullahs.

What an idiot.

Having the tuxedo wearing Euro poofs leaving Tehran will surely shake the Mullahs up—HA! How about some real sanctions and stopping Iran from having the bomb? The West fiddles while the world burns.

The world is truly upside down. Our castrato POTUS is begging the mullahs to finish clubbing their people and come to the negotiation table, while the Europeans are showing an indication of returning to the animal kingdom of vertebrates.

It's alright... Obama's going to put the Mullahs on 'double secret probation,' if they keep acting up!

Sadly, they're still doing more than we are.

I hope it works. So Ahmadinejad calls their bluff, they depart...and then what happens to the prisoners? “Soft power” meets hard power is what happens.

Well, at least they are doing something!

They THREATENED TO, they will not do it. I am an european and I can assure you, they would rather not upset the iranian president. You must understand, my, european leaders value oil far more than the lives of iranian protesters.
The useless foreign minister of europe solana, will talk big, give a little speech, wag his finger, then, will go and kiss Hamadinejad little ar¨se hole. Solana loves nothing better than kissing despots and dictators ar´se, especially arab ones.

This requires robust debate before they pull out.
