Axelrod claims Iran has nuclear weapons

Top Obama adviser's statement contradicts official U.S., Israeli estimates

n an apparent mistake, President Obama's senior adviser David Axelrod stated during an interview yesterday there are nuclear weapons in Iran which are a threat to the entire world.

No country has ever claimed Iran currently has a nuclear arsenal. A 2007 U.S. intelligence estimate previously claimed Iran halted its nuclear weapons-related work in 2003, although that report was highly criticized. Other American agencies have stated Iran could obtain nukes by 2013 or later.

Israel maintains Iran could have enough enriched uranium to produce a nuclear weapon in less than a year, although other Israeli estimates put the timeline at 2012.

Axelrod, meanwhile, said yesterday in little noticed comments to ABC News that there are already nuclear weapons in Iran.

"I think the president's sense of solicitude with those young people has been very, very clear, and we're very mindful of that," said Axelrod.

Liberals were whining not that along ago that Iran was 5-10 years off.

Of course, that was when Bush was in power...now they’re a grave threat and it will be Bush’s fault they procured nukes.

No one has a nuke until they test it - at least more than once.

Nonetheless, Iran shouldn’t be allowed to even get close.

Don’t tell me.....Now our government will REALLY, REALLY send them a letter of disapproval. This new government of ours will get a lot of people killed. Lack of experience really comes into play now. I’ve said it before, during these times in the world, the United States needs a war time President. Not McCain, a real war time President. More like Patton or McCarthur.

Backdating Iran's development of nuclear weapons to 1/19/2009 or before.

“”I think the president’s sense of solicitude with those young people has been very, very clear, and we’re very mindful of that,” said Axelrod”

Solicitude and solidarity have extremely different meanings!

There's the real danger in all this.

A blockbuster announcement like this and they DON'T EVEN NOTICE?

What if they bought a "tested" one from the Russians? Or Kahn? Or North Korea? The Iranian people are under the government thumb and there's oil money sloshing around the elites.

What would prevent them from buying nukes? Ethics? International conscience? A peaceful tradition? Come on, the guys running the country are thugs - they kill their own citizens for objecting to voter fraud. The only thing that would stop them from buying a nuke would be the morality of the sellers - and there's too many lowlifes out there to consider that a real deterrent.

From the ABC transcript of the June 28, 2009 This Week with George Stephanopoulus:
AXELROD: I think the president's sense of solicitude with those young people has been very, very clear, and we're very mindful of that. We are also mindful of the fact that the nuclear weapons in Iran and the nuclearization of that whole region is a threat to that country, all countries in the region, and the world. And we have to address that. We can't let that lie.
[Emphasis added.]

I count 13 words. Let's keep those in mind to use against all those clymers who ranted on and on about George W. Bush and his 16 words with respect to Iraq.

No one has a nuke until they test it

They might want to test it at Tel Aviv.

On the other hand, if it went "thud", they'd be in a world of hurt.
