wanna bet his highly paid skilled lawyers tie this up in appeals till he is dead of old age?

So? He'll sit in jail during the appeals process. If the judge wasn't willing to let him remain free until sentencing, he won't let him out pending appeal.

I missed that he was already jailed, maybe there is some justice left in the US after all.

Although I have never experienced either I have been told by those in a position to speak from experience that a county jail is a far worse place to spend time than any prison.
