House Narrowly Passes Bill Designed to Influence Earths Climate by Restricting U.S. Industry and Imposing Costs on American Families
(CNSNews.com) - The U.S. House of Representatives narrowly passed a bill yesterday that is intended to influence the Earths climate by limiting the emission of carbon and other designated greenhouse gases within the United States thus imposing costs on American families.
The conservative Heritage Foundation estimates that by 2035 the bill would cut the Gross Domestic Product of the United States by $6,790 per family of four and impose $4,600 in carbon taxes per family. The Heritage Foundation analysis countered an analysis by the Congressional Budget Office that determined that the bill would only cost $175 per household in 2020.
The final vote in the House was 219 to 212 with three members not voting. There are 435 seats in the House, and one seat is currently vacant.
Forty-four Democrats voted against the bill and eight Republicans voted for it. With the exception of one member from Illinois, all the Republicans who voted for the bill were from states on the West or East Coasts.
The bill defines carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, sulfur hexafluoride, hydrofluorocarbons, perfluorocarbons and nitrogen trifluoride as greenhouse gases. It requires the government to set increasingly stringent national caps on the emission of these gases in the United States, such that by 2050 emissions will be only 17% of what they were in 2005.
Emissions will be rationed in allowances among current emitters and owners of allowances will be able to buy and sell them on a national exchange.
The bill has no impact on greenhouse gas emissions in China, India or anywhere outside the United States.

officially a real loser.
There is also the National Civilian Defense Force, which is supposed to be funded in the same measure as the uniformed military services.
The Tonton Macoutes were a Haitian paramilitary force created in 1959 and reporting directly to François ‘Papa Doc’ Duvalier until his death in 1971. ‘Papa Doc’ came to power in 1957, as a democratically elected leader on a populist platform. He had previously served as Minister of Health. After an attempted coup against him in 1958, Duvalier rewrote the Haitian constitution, making himself a ‘President for Life’. Believing the Army was planning to overthrow him (as they had previous leaders), he disbanded all law enforcement agencies in Haiti, including the army. He executed all high-ranking Generals. To keep law enforcement completely loyal to his own ruling family, he created the Tonton Macoutes, who were granted automatic amnesty through his powers for any crime they committed.
Nobody realizes how desperately we NEED the nascent obama regime to fail, and fail utterly. The quicker, the better. There seems to be no compromise on the horizon.
If catholics read the Gospel according to St. Thomas, they might have a different take on Christ teaching. That Gospel was declared heresy in 1968 by the catholic church. It gives people the idea, Christ was more talking about revolution than peace. To be of note, the St. Thomas is doubting Thomas a disciple of Christ. BTW I am a Christian reformed Catholic!!!!
You are right..........but if those repubs had held firm, Nancy and the dems would have owned it, now they have cover, thanks to the spineless.
I'm a Tridentine Mass (No Novus Ordo) reformed Catholic!
Had enough?
(It allows those cars to park in handicapped slots.)
So you believe in traditional mass, or latin mass? I do not have a problem with that. I was just pointing something out, and if you got the connection, you would not have been offended. According to St. Thomas, Christ was preaching of revolution against Rome!
I wasn’t offended at all. Were you?
No not at all! I was just pointing out an arguement for action.
