I see no Constitutional mandate for spreading democracy

That's because there IS no such mandate.

However, if I may ask you a question:

Would you agree with the fundamental idea that it would be to America's benefit -- since Iran will most likely be developing atomic weapons sometime in the near future -- to have a western "friendly" government in Iran?

Thank you in advance for your answer.

The retort about a constituional mandate to spread democracy is phrased badly, IMHO.

The question is not about spreading "democracy" which we have no interest in in any case. The Constitution is about a republic.

The question is about defending the American Republic from its enemies wherein there is a constituional mandate provided for through the executive branch and the military.

Iran's current government is our enemy. Irrespective of Obama and legal double speak, any one with common sense knows this.

Therefore, supporting the Iranian people who themselves are attempting to overthrow this enemy, is in our best and constitutional interest...in addition to showing the bankruptcy of the anti-American foreign policy of our current President...which also serve the interests of the Republic (showing them to be the sham they are).
