I await the moment that this headline will not say Honduran Prez....but American Prez.

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said he will do everything he can to “crush” the “coup” in Honduras. “We will do everything within our reach to restore the government,” Chavez said in comments broadcast by the Telesur regional network.

Zelaya had planned to use results from a poll this weekend, which is being managed by the president’s supporters and the National Statistics Institute, to press for a national referendum in November on whether to change the constitution. That vote was to be held in tandem with national elections, a process the Supreme Court has already ruled illegal.

The president’s critics say his proposal for a constitutional overhaul was designed to allow him to stay in office after his term ends, said Heather Berkman, a political risk analyst at the Eurasia Group in New York.

Hugo isn't going to let this happen. Be ready for him to land Venezuelan and Cuban troops in Honduras. Without the US to stop him, and since Obama is a fellow traveler we certainly won't, he isn't going to let anything stand in the way of his revolution.

I don't think Chavez will overreach this way militarily. He will provide financial and political support to the next leftist to run for office in South/Central America....

A lot of Americans are buying property and moving to Central America (although I think other countries are more of a destination than Honduras). People ought to think twice about things like that.

Wouldn’t it really be something if the conservative movement that is currently spreading through Europe starts to spread to Latin and South America. Wouldn’t it be something if the freedom and liberty and democratic movement currently being waged in Iran started spreading throughout the Middle East. It has already shown it could work in Iraq thatnks to Bush. And if we use the same Petraeus strategy in Afghanistan then one day that too may succeed. But it is ironic to say the least that as these movements elsewhere get more and more momentum, we find ourselves here at home being robbed daily of all those freedoms and liberties that previous generations of Americans from all walks of life fought and died for.

Right of center, Sebastian Pineda (LAN Airlines boss) is leading all candidates several months ahead of Presidential elections in Chile.

The way these candidates get in office and stay in office is to be truly conservative. Cut taxes, create a pro business environment, cut government spending and decrease the size and scope of government to allow more freedom to the people, and above all have and keep an effective national defense and military to protect and defend the country.

It isn't overreach if he knows that the US won't do anything about it. He can do that with a call to Obama.

In short, he wants to do an end run around the constitution.............

Must be an epidemic of this "end run around the constitution". Even our very transparent system with checks and balances is not immune to it. The Community Organizer turned scam artist from Chicago, is fine tuning it to perfection and he's being praised to high heavens for doing so.
