iReport ^ | 6/27/2009

...The so called "democratically-elected Government of President Manuel Zelaya of Honduras" is spearheading the force that is trying to disrupt the rule of law in our country. Mr. Zelaya´s is fraudulent inquiry, in all respects, that is aimed at changing one aspect of our constitution, which is that no president can be elected twice. This man who has polarized our society by accusing the higher class of all that is wrong with our country, who has neglected the true economic, social, health, educational and security problems of our nation, is trying to distract the Honduran people from his true intention...centralizing power and doing away with a three power democratic structure.

Interesting developments in Honduras, and the UN and ALBA are condeming the possible coup d'etat by the military, when in fact it is the President who is trying to circumvent the law, and the legislature and military are trying to depose him because of his actions. The President is trying to set himself up as a President "for life"...similar to a Chavez or Castro.

“...president for life...”

Perhaps Obama is next to try this gambit?

If you follow the way things have gone in Honduras, it’s not hard to imagine it happening in any country, really. One guy, democratically elected, gets power hungry, fires the military heads, does away with the legislature, and decides to hold an unconstitutional referendum to “change” the constitution so he can serve longer than it says.

I have friends in Honduras, they said they’ve been told not to leave their homes today, and they’ve stocked up on food, etc. It will be interesting to see what happens. The guy has played a “class” warfare game in the country so he has support from some of the people, but he has no constitutional support.

Typical liberal ploy.

We’ve been stocking up on food since January: we’ve bought silver coins pre-1964, gold and silver bullion, and cashed in all our investments in the stock market. It is not impossible for me to imagine what is happening in Honduras happening here due to the machinations of Obama.

Obama has the support of at least 80% of blacks in this country now. And he scoffs at the U.S. Constitution, calling it a ‘flawed document’. To me, a limited civil war, though a remote probability, is something possible that I’ll not ignore.

Another episode of Latin America showing a written constitution is worth the paper it is written on. Latin America wrote constituions on the American model and it has done them no good because it does not have the necessary character, public ethos, etc to make a successful free society. We see this be playing out on a smaller scale in America.

Actually this episode does show their Constitution was worth something. The courts, congress and military all upheld it and kicked the crooked president out.

I do believe it. And I'm scared.

Whaaa?

It is the Constitution that was upheld. The rule of law prevailed in Honduras.

“Perhaps Obama is next to try this gambit?”

I am concerned because I perceive traits in President Obama that indicate he really thinks himself to be King Obama. This Honduran attempted to be a King (when its for life...you aren’t a president anymore...you are a King). We don’t have or want Kings in this country. The American Revolution was about becoming free of Monarchs. It is scary to me that the POTUS would call actions that were “lawful” under Honduran law as illegal. Where does it get the authority to say such a foolish thing?

Interesting that you should mention that “he really thinks himself to be King Obama”.

Last summer I saw photographs taken of sidewalks in Hawaii that had ‘King Obama’ carved into them (probably when poured back in the 1970s). This sidewalk was between his grandparents apartment and his school.
