Oddly enough, I suspect some people actually think they are his because he changed his appearance.
I remember a WWII pilot who was horribly burned when his plane crashed. He married and had a bunch of kids. When I saw the family portrait I realized that subconsciously I had been expecting the kids to look a bit like him. All the kids were handsome or pretty. Of course if I had actually thought about it, I knew his disfigurement would have no effect on the kids.
I got my hair permed for years, and my mother-in-law was surprised when I went back to straight because she thought it had become naturally curly.
