Jackson Dies, Almost Takes Internet with Him

LONDON, England (CNN) -- How many people does it take to break the Internet? On June 25, we found out it's just one -- if that one is Michael Jackson.

The biggest showbiz story of the year saw the troubled star take a good slice of the Internet with him, as the ripples caused by the news of his death swept around the globe.

"Between approximately 2:40 p.m. PDT and 3:15 p.m. PDT today, some Google News users experienced difficulty accessing search results for queries related to Michael Jackson," a Google spokesman told CNET, which also reported that Google News users complained that the service was inaccessible for a time. At its peak, Google Trends rated the Jackson story as "volcanic."

As sites fell, users raced to other sites: TechCrunch reported that TMZ, which broke the story, had several outages; users then switched to Perez Hilton's blog, which also struggled to deal with the requests it received.

CNN reported a fivefold rise in traffic and visitors in just over an hour, receiving 20 million page views in the hour the story broke.

How much Carbon did MJ’s death create? His family should be taxed more to pay for it.

Heard that it almost overwhelmed Twitter as well. Saw on the sports news yesterday that Chad “Ocho Cinco” Johnson (wide receiver for the Bengals) Tweeted to his fellow braindead followers that “Jackson’s death is as sad as 9/11.” Just when I thought I’d heard everything...

I hear someone say yesterday that ( drama queen tinkerbell ) Shep Smith said that “ I can't believe that it's been almost 3 hours now that Micheal is gone from us “

The very same mentality swept away in the hype of Michael Jackson's death is the very same who attribute messianic status to B. Hussein 0bama.

Cult followers all.

Shep Smith also said that Jacko "was one of world's greatest human beings." Not just "entertainers", but human beings. Can't get much sicker than that. Sheppie is probably jealous that Anderson Cooper got to "hang out" with Jacko at Studio 54 when he was 10.

I thought his fan base was underprivileged and deprived after being put down by the man all these years. And now we find out they all have internet service. I guess welfare and Gubmint assistance does work for something.

MJ’s been gone almost two days now. Funny, it already seems like years.

MJ was a homosexual pedophile who got off because of his money and his position in the hierarchy of the entertainment society. I wonder if all the people glorifying MJ have been just as forgiving of homosexual pedophile priests who were protected because of their position within an esteemed hierarchy?

He was found not guilty you boob. You make accusations not based on fact but on feeling (I don’t like Jackson...he was weird...etc. Just like a lib.

His fan base has been perhaps the largest for any recording artist. I would say it goes beyond those groups.

At least Michael is genuinely talented and at one time deserved to be at the top of his industry. As for Obama, he’s de facto at the top, but I can’t tell why. he can speak well, as they all say, but he’s like a thousand other politicians to me. And he didn’t have to earn it by gradually working his way up from childhood star to leader of his own subgenre to mainstream superstar. He just sorta popped up out of nowhere.

Don’t doubt his money had something to do with it, but the evidence against him was lacking. Police never found a smoking gun. The witnesses against him were crap.

Not saying he wasn’t guilty, but this wasn’t an OJ thing.
