The details of South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford's secretive trips to visit his lover in South America aren't just headline fodder or political kryptonite.

They're also being scrutinized by law enforcement officials at the request of some lawmakers and watchdog groups who fear taxpayer money could have been misused on his affair. So far, no criminal investigation has been opened.

On Thursday, Sanford agreed to reimburse the state for part of a more-than $8,000 tab that enabled him to see his mistress on an official economic development trip to Argentina's capital city. At a Cabinet meeting Friday, he told the head of the state Commerce Department he was sorry about the trip.

The department had initially included only Brazil on the official itinerary but added meetings in Buenos Aires at the governor's behest, said Kara Borie, a spokeswoman for the state Commerce Department.

Falling for a honey pot raises the obvious prospect of blackmail.

The Governor has placed himself in a compromised situation in which he could never get a security clearance. Therefore, as CIC of the SC National Guard, he needs to step down.

The wife gave an interview yesterday where she revealed details that were TMI.
Like her husband did in his confessional.
Both of the Sanfords seem eager to air their dirty laundry in public for different reasons ,but, the only thing they are accomplishing is feeding the story
and embarrassing their children.
If Sanford had any sense or shame-
he would have resigned in a one sentence written statement and disappeared out of the public eye.
He isn’t just an adulterer and someone who misused his office,
he seems like an increasingly out of touch, head case.
Who seems to enjoy the attention.

There are no questions regarding his conduct. There are no issues. Nothing is left to debate, discuss or remaining things about which we may express differing points of view. It is over, done finished. It is time for him to go. People and Officials of South Carolina-DUMP HIM!!!!!!!!!! He is a disgrace and has given Social Conservatives over to the enemy. To paraphrase Oliver Cromwell; “for too long he has been in office. Leave Us! Depart! For God’s sake go!”

Agreed. The only beneficiaries of his continued occupancy of the office are the rats and the msm.
