Americans saving more as Obama continues the spending spree

The more Obama and the Democrats pour money down the rabbit's hole (portal to a bizzarro world/significantly strange happenings/extremely surreal situations) of debt, the more Americans are saving their own money. As they watch neighbors continue to lose their jobs and homes, they are putting money away at the highest rate in 15 years--6.9 percent.

During the housing boom, the savings rate dipped below zero as a result of taking out home equity loans and taking advantage of easy credit. Now it is the highest since December 1993 as Americans lose more confidence in the Obama and Democrats spending spree. When people save money, it means that less money is being circulated which could deeps the recession.

I hope to God this is true!

"It appears that American's are no longer listening to the "happy talk" projections coming out of the White House and the Democrats in Congress and are stashing their money away. No one knows exactly how much money being saved is being accounted for because not all of it takes place in bank accounts. The saving rate could be much higher than the stated because of money being hidden in what some consider more secure places, like in home safes.

Doesn’t mean much because inflation discourages bank savings...

IMO, it is true from what I’ve heard people say around here. Inflation might eat into the savings, but they are taking THAT chance rather than the bank chance or the Wall Street chance or, heaven forbid, the Obama chance.

Buy lead, coffee, and sugar! Buy canned goods, and canning supplies. Buy solar hot water heaters and propane stoves. Plan for the worst and you won't be unprepared. Saving $$$ at this point is counter-productive...

Buy a place in the country, and bar the windows!

If they want you to spend more the simple way is lower marginal tax rates. These one-time payouts the dims are so fond of giving are only going to be socked away. People will either save it or pay off a bill, especially when their scared of losing their job. Do these geniuses in Washington not realize this???

No one has any money to save? And Congress is stealing money as fast as it can.

the "geniuses" in DC don't work much less know folks that do work for a living.

I can say one place folks are spending are at gun shows... I was at one this morning in the Atlanta suburbs and it was PACKED!!

And it was not the typical redneck militia types so often stereotyped and vilified by the media.

If folks are saving up to weather a coming storm then all bets are off

It is not the banks I fear, but the new way they ignore property laws. If this congress knows I have money they will steal it.

Nothing is safe. The only problem is that they are intentionally destroying the dollar while packing their own pockets full. A new currency and government is around the corner and they intend to spend it while it still has some value. Anything I save they will inflate to nothing. The only way to save is pay my debts off, and move to a place where I can live without an economy. Think Great Depression, no, think New World Order. Think your neighbor is your lifeline, if you cant trust your neighborhood, move to one you can.

Cities are not supportable, think bread lines.

The only reason a Congress man builds a bridge to nowhere is because he can get a kickback from the contractor that "wins" the bid.

Why else would a congressman spend sixty million dollars complaining to get a job that pays only two hundred grand a year? How else do congress men end up retiring with a hundred million in the bank?

Stimulus is all about moving money so that it can be "taxed" under the table. You can't steer a parked car.

Other than survival items and daily requirements, our spending has come to a complete halt.

My wife continues to enjoy a nice and reasonably secure income, and I have two retirement checks.

I like toys and I have a wide range of interests, (a man that is interested in everything is interested in all things, and never bored), so I have been a good contributor to the economy, However, with Obama and the dems in power, all non-required spending has come to a full stop.

Obama is moving faster than I can keep up with so there is no way to forecast anything good on the horizon. For me, it’s much safer to simply hunker down, survive and enjoy what I already have.

I WILL NOT change my spending mode until those bastards in DC are gone, no exceptions.

I look forward to a national rebellion.

Those in power have proven that justice means nothing to them. They have demonstrated that they will do whatever they want, as they refuse to listen to us. They just keep taking, even when we have nothing more to give. They have shredded our Constitution. Today, even our ballot will not turn this around (ACORN).

I will not be a slave to any man and I will not go quietly into the night.

They need to understand..... We are coming, WE the PEOPLE are coming, we are coming for you.....

In other words, Americans are being set up for a betrayal far worse than last year. Our savings are going to be worthless once the bill for Obama’s vote buying spree comes in.

Trying to stock pile money will be useless. The inflation our King Obama is bringing on will result in wheel barrels of cash just to buy a loaf of bread. Wait until this winter and see your electric and heating your home will be. Don't believe you could save enough even if you have a job.
