Victims of a warming world may be caught in a bureaucratic limbo unless things are done to ease—and better still, pre-empt—their travails
THE airstrip at Lokichoggio, in the scorched wastes of north Kenya, was once ground zero for food aid. During Sudan’s civil war, flights from here kept millions of people alive. The warehouses are quieter now, but NGOs keep a toehold, in case war restarts—and to deal with what pundits call the “permanent emergency” of “environmentally induced” migration.
Thomas Malthus, all over again. Do these people ever give up? There are three things about them that I cannot stand. They are wrong, wrong and wrong.
AGW is the greatest hoax, next to communism, coming out of the 20th century. IT IS A HOAX! It is done for political power, money, and fame.
The Sudan had vast irrigation scheme’s which now lie idle.
Politics is the reason they are starving. Colonialism did at least feed and employ vast numbers of people. But the politics of socialism and curruption ended that. Same thing has happened to Zimbabwae, Nigeria etc. People starving in a land of plenty.
As the political disasters just keep coming, affecting the formerly stable, producing portions of the globe that have been feeding everyone for decades, just where will they get the food? Why migrate from a drought right into a situation where all water is tightly controlled for political power reasons? People will not only continue to go hungry, there will eventually be no excess grain, no fuel to ship it, let alone dry it and even the leeches that run the developing and 3rd world will see their pot of gold go empty.
