Oliver Stone: 'Reagan Was a Dumb Son of a Bitch' Who Spawned Bush By Brent Baker Created 2009-06-27 02:14 Film producer/director Oliver Stone [1], a far-left promoter of conspiracies who is working on a sequel to his 1987 'Wall Street' movie, declared on Friday night's edition of HBO's Real Time with Bill Maher that Reagan was a dumb son of a bitch and I really think George W is dumber and so, after producing movies on the CIA conspiracy to murder President Kennedy and a dark look at President Nixon, he won't create a movie on Ronald Reagan because by doing the W movie I kind of put all my efforts behind dumbness.
Stone, who earlier in the pre-taped show made up of three one-on-one interviews Maher conducted (other two were with Cameron Diaz and Billy Bob Thornton) characterized President Obama as no better than Bush (a sneak Bush administration with different words), also asserted: I do think Nixon is the father of Reagan and I think Reagan's the father of Bush. There's sort of a very strong line. Whatever that means.
From the June 26 program, after Maher asked why Stone, who did films on JFK, Nixon and Bush, had not done a movie on Reagan:
OLIVER STONE: Nixon always said Reagan was a dumb son of a bitch and, you know, I think that he was [audience applause]. And I think, I really think George W is dumber [more audience laughter and applause].
BILL MAHER: Definitely
STONE: I do think that by doing the W movie I kind of put all my efforts behind dumbness and I don't want to go back there because, you know, I'm not the Farrelly brothers. But I do think Nixon is the father of Reagan and I think Reagan's the father of Bush. There's sort of a very strong line....
I was sure Oliver Stone was dead...
Please, please don't give this loser more publicity--look at his brain trust, fer pete's sake, who's gonna listen to these burnouts?
I think he is - from the neck up.
BILL MAHER: Definitely
WOW, Bill, that is some cutting-edge political incorrectness there, you are such an iconoclast!
Maher likes to call himself a libertarian. It makes me shutter. I can’t stand leftists who don’t want to be called Dems but haven’t discovered the Green Party.
Wonder who will do the movie about the Lying Kenyan Commie who sleeps in the White House?
OS another one that rates a W G A F
He, like John F’n Kerry (A VN Vet), made his ‘fame/fortune’ on the backs of others by lying and distorting the truth about their fellow Vets. I was flipping the channels last night and two of the main idiots ...him and Bill Marr were on..what a brain trust there....
I know someone personally—former childhood friend—who has a fairly prominent job in Hollywood, who has worked with many name directors. The only one—ONLY one—he really, really disliked was Stone. Told me some amazing stories.
Are they still using acid in Hollyweird?
>>> Told me some amazing stories. <<<<
Such as?
Maher is a failed comedian, a failed actor, who found a niche and like Keith Olberman believes that because he reads aloud from things others write for him it makes him intelligent.
I’m sure not going to tell them here.
Kind of ironic as many think your movies are high comedy.
Oliver Stone is an arrogant, anti-American son of a bitch who spawns wild-eyed conspiracy theories.
That sounds more like Obama and company.
Oh, OK Oliver. So your brilliant President Clinton is now known as a president who was impeached and who was sexually involved with an intern in the White House. And the ‘dumb’ President Reagan is known as the president who presided over the demise of the Soviet Union. Most of you on the left wouldn’t know ‘smart’ if it bit you.
Uhm... that’s exactly the reason why they hate Reagan. Liberals loved the worker’s paradise behind the iron curtain.
“I do think Nixon is the father of Reagan...”
Okay, I’m scratching my head on this one. Nixon, at least on domestic issues, always struck me as being more in sync with the likes of Ford and Rockefeller than Reagan or Goldwater.
BTW, all politics aside...am I the only one who feels Stone is a staggeringly overrated film-maker? Platoon and Talk Radio are the only ones I’ve seen and really liked from him.
