The Founding Fathers in all their wisdom couldn’t have possibly known why, but I wish they had added a sentence or two about it being necessary to attach proof of birth in the US AND proof of citizenship to the original public filing documents when filing to become a candidate for ANY office in the US.
They had to have something like this on their minds when they put the provision in in the first place. Obviously they feared a non-natural citizen as president.
(Well, not EXACTLY like this.)
If they had ever envisioned this, they might have added a clause about the necessity of being human too. (Phil Dragoo, that’s your cue.)
If wishes were fishes we would need much bigger fish tanks.
It’s depressing.
Because ultimately our experiment in self-government rests on a foundation of honest good will. It is impossible to write enough laws that would corral those who maliciously choose to corrupt the system.
For me, the scales fell from my eye during the 2000 election recount in Florida. I realized that a Democrat could never again be my friend. They were either too evil or too stupid.
After the 2000 election I also ceased using the words liberal, leftist, socialist, and progressive. They are **ALL** Marxists even if if they are too stupid to know it, or too evil and dishonest to admit it.
Phil, see post #36. You were named but not pinged...
