as a fan of McCarthy and McCarthyism I reject the analogy.

Why? I doubt Joe would, particularly the last paragraph at your link...

Director Fred Zinnemann, an Austrian Jew, saw himself as steering the film toward a message movie about European failure to fight fascism until it was too late. Zinneman’s vision is ultimately the one that prevails. Kane’s little town isn’t populated by Joe McCarthys — but by Neville Chamberlains.

well yeah I should have posted a connection to a strictly anti- high noon article.

the script was so bad and so transparent that John Wayne new what it was in a minute and rejected it as being commie. Gary cooper didnt realize what it was.
