Mousavi, Celebrated in Iranian Protests, Was the Butcher of Beirut

“This was the heyday of [Ayatollah] Khomeini’s theocratic vision, when Iran thought it really could export its revolution across the Middle East, providing money and arms to anyone who claimed he could upend the old order.”

He may yet turn out to be the avatar of Iranian democracy, but three decades ago Mir-Hossein Mousavi was waging a terrorist war on the United States that included bloody attacks on the U.S. embassy and Marine Corps barracks in Beirut.

Mousavi, prime minister for most of the 1980s, personally selected his point man for the Beirut terror campaign, Ali Akbar Mohtashemi-pur, and dispatched him to Damascus as Iran’s ambassador, according to former CIA and military officials.

The ambassador in turn hosted several meetings of the cell that would carry out the Beirut attacks, which were overheard by the National Security Agency.

“We had a tap on the Iranian ambassador to Syria,” retired Navy Admiral James “Ace” Lyons related by telephone Monday. In 1983 Lyons was deputy chief of Naval Operations, and deeply involved in the events in Lebanon.

All very nice, of course, but the point isn't about Mousavi and his merits ~ rather, it's about the Iranian people.

We should assist them in REMOVING the system that enslaves them. Then they can dispose of Mousavi as well.

Frankly, just about all the political class in Iran are thieves, murderers, thugs, perjurors, and scum. We should cheer the efforts being made by the Iranian people to get rid of this crowd.

Obama should lend this guy some of his staff for a week and show Mousavi how to scrub all personal history and web entries from view. I hope Americans don't think Mousavi is the “good guy” or think that his supporters are necessarily pro-American. Anyone who was involved in Beirut is no friend of America.

The USA’s “internal problems” are simply the manifest will of the Anglo-American banking alliance being acted out thru the global military-industrial complex. Bush/Obama, left/right, its all a false paradigm set up to distract and incapacitate true resistance. Furthermore, IT DOES MATTER that the CIA helped fund and direct a man with ties to the murder of 299 USA servicemen, who were blown to bits by a truck bomb.
