FWIW, my son told me that people rarely die in the ambulance en route to the hospital. That’s because while the vehicle and patient are en route, the EMT or Paramedic is doing CPR and keeping things going. The person may be factually deceased, but the decision to pronounce the patient as deceased will be made by a doctor at the hospital.
