As we watch the horrors in Iran, it makes us wonder if anything like that could happen in America. In Iran, the mullahs control everything and feel justified in any injustice they commit because of a belief in the rightness of their own actions. Is there anyone like that here?
In an answer to that question, Frank Schaeffer wrote a column for the Huffington Post entitled The Real Lesson of Iran Beware Americas Republican Mullahs. Reading it and the comments to it, I came to a realization: people who think the religious right are just like Iranian mullahs are just like Iranian mullahs.
The article is pretty creepy. Schaeffer makes reference to neocons by the second sentence, which already raises flags, as it seems its getting hard these days for anyone to use that word and not be a crank. And the whole premise is quite disturbing. The author has seen all the horrors of people being brutalized and murdered over just wanting their voices heard, and he comes to the conclusion that his completely unrelated political opponents Republicans are very bad.
It takes a certain kind of sociopath to witness great tragedy and then turn back to his narrow political talking points completely unaffected. Its pretty much the same as seeing someone brutally murdered in the street and saying, This is why we need to change subsidies on corn farming....

Beware the collectivist gun-grabbers. Democrat elitists are our mullahs and ACORN is their baseej.
Lol.. The Huffblow Post...
Absolute complete denial about Obama. He is the dictator/Mullah.

But I guess he is okay with Mullah Obama running everyuthing and trying tocontroleverything and verybody.......
What we see happening in Iran can happen here, and will *most likely* happen here, in just one generation...
That evil and oppressive governmental idealogy of Islam and the way of implementing it by Sharia law is already making inroads right here in this country. We’re about to see a “takeover” of the U.S. by the evil and oppressive idealogy of the government of Islam (that is aiming for world-wide conquest and has stated that the U.S. is *on its list* to take over...)
And for those people who need some additional facts about what the evil and oppressive governmental idealogy of Islam is doing, look at some of the following.
Theres no question about it... the enemy is *Islam* itself and the evil and oppressive and false idealogy that it perpetrates. Some say the problem is fascism (instead of the basic oppressive governmental idealogy of Islam, itself). But, that is to engage in political correctness and nothing more... and sidetracks people from the *true enemy* in this war.
In one generation well see, right here in the United States that Islam is the enemy and not fascism...

You said — Absolute complete denial about Obama. He is the dictator/Mullah.

Actually, I think it’s a *disservice* to people to indicate that the problem is Obama. He’s not really the big problem, at the bottom of it all.
The real and *big* problem for this country is the infiltration of the evil and oppressive idealogy of the governing of Islam over everyone’s lives, from social values and what is accepted and done to laws to governmental policies to the government itself.
I’m afraid if people focus on Obama, then they’ll miss the huge elephant in the room — the evil and oppressive government idealogy of Islam.
He became an Orthodox Christian some years back, and managed to get himself involved in controversy right off the bat. Before the chrism had hardly dried on his forehead, he presumed to lecture the Orthodox Church on what it needed to do. I'm Orthodox too, and will pray for my co-religionist, but I'm not going to read what he writes or listen to what he says.
He caused a bit of a stir (more of a ripple, really) with his support for Obama during the campaign, rationalizing away Obama's being in the bag with the abortion racket, which has to have Francis Schaeffer spinning in his grave.
I never said that Obama is the problem with Iran.
Huff Post said that Republicans/Christian leaders are like the Mullahs. I was merely pointing out that Obama is more like them.

Absolutely so. I did go to one of those seminars with Francis Schaeffer and C. Everett Koop speaking, in Portland, Oregon. From all of what I heard, I can never imagine Francis Schaeffer backing Obama... not in a million years.
And, I had also briefly talked to Frank Schaeffer, back when he was in California and when I wanted to get some of the video sets they had, to rent them out to people. I read a book by him (at least if I remember right) called “Addicted to Mediocrity” which did seem to be in line with what Francis Schaeffer was talking about, too.
But, certainly the acorn has not fallen close to the tree, in the case of Frank Schaeffer...
Too bad that Frank Schaeffer has distanced himself from his father—and mother. As you know of course, they STOOD for something, they left a legacy of standing against abortion and also reaching out to the fatherless, orphans, the infirm, elderly.
“How Shall We Then Live?” was a great warning and things have taken that very path he warned us against.
I think Edith is still living, right?

Heck! Forget about Iran. I wasn’t referring to them. I was talking about the problem here in this country... LOL... Obama is not the worst of it. The worst of it is the evil and despicable and oppressive governing idealogy of Islam and Sharia law.
In just one simple generation, we’ll be taken over by them, not in Iran, but here in the U.S. with the Islamic flag flying over the White House (and not merely having an “Obama” in the White House).
The left are the gun-grabbers who want to censor the few remaining conservative voices.
No Christian is that bad.
I went to one of those seminars in St. Louis, probably thirty years ago. It was very important in my development as a pro-lifer.
I gave up on reading Frank’s stuff some time ago — but looking at the titles of his recent books, I think he’s doing a public purgation of his fundy roots.
She is still living. She’s way up in her nineties, I believe.
I’m glad this thread came up. It reminds me to find that copy I have of “How Then...” and read it again.
Well, don't confuse this ignorant fool with the facts!
How sad that the biggest Pro Life countries (highest birth rates) are producing offspring that hate us while the most Christian nation in the world (USA is only nation with majority church attendance) slaughters infants in the womb.
Planned parenthood will plan our country into irrelevance, military and financial impotence, and ultimately subservience unless we find a way to turn Muslims into Christians.
The Muslim flag is already over the White House thanks to the closet Muslim.

And, I also think that this should be considered to be the kind of judgment and the nature of the judgment that the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob will bring down upon this nation — which is to be enslaved under the evil and oppressive governmental idealogy that is Islam...., being done by our own hand....
