Introducing successor Barack Obama
In 1995, State Senator Palmer introduced her chosen successor, Barack Obama, at a gathering in the Hyde Park home of former Weather Underground terrorists Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn.
âI can remember being one of a small group of people who came to Bill Ayersâ house to learn that Alice Palmer was stepping down from the senate and running for Congress,â said Dr. Quentin Young, a prominent Chicago physician of the informal gathering at the home of Ayers and his wife, Dohrn. â[Palmer] identified [Obama] as her successor.â
Barack Obama and Palmer âwere both there,â he said.
Dr. Young described Obama and Ayers as âfriendsâ.[42]
