Correction. They've been around for some time. Seems as if the affair is known about, just not reported about. From the article:

So what? We got fraud, corruption, cheating, lying, stealing that goes on in Chicago and Cook Co., it’s so common, they don’t even bother to cover themselves up anymore, and voters won’t even get mad enough to vote these crooks out, but we’re supposed to get upset about some lone politican’s itinerate trist with an Argentine tart? Why is this big news? Sorry, but I don’t get it.
