Oh yes, I am still paranoid, and take lots of steps for their safety. However I have screwed up at least once with each one, and I thank God alone that my kids are ok.
I know I am not the only one. If you talk to ALMOST any mom, they have a “near miss” story. We are fallible human beings.
I have 3. My boys were 10 and 14 when my daughter was born. It was easier when I was in my early 20’s. At 35 I wasn’t ready for this. She was colicky and I was food and sleep deprived. She was about 18 months and we went to the store. She never took naps. I usually ate holding her and was up at night with her crying. She fell asleep in the car. A very rare occurance. We got home and I very briefly thought about leaving her sleep in the car. I just couldn’t. My Mom paranoia was screaming that I had to have her in sight. Lord I was a “clutchy” Mommy! Good thing too. My car burned in my driveway.
