I dunno about this?
In any case, I cannot understand why Gov. Sanford was such a darling on this website before cheating on his wife but now is a dirtbag. To me, his disqualification as a presidential contender came only because he shirked his gubernatorial duty by being absent and out of touch for five days. I care less about his sins of the flesh. I felt the same about Clinton; despising him chiefly because he was a draft-dodging POS and a despicable serial liar.
We don't know what went on in Sanford's marriage; perhaps he and his wife have just grown apart. It happens. Sadly, 50 percent of marriages fail, and of that 50 percent a whopping amount is because of infidelity.
Ronald Reagan was divorced and turned out to be a great president( the details of why he left Jane Wyman are not known but speculation according the Hollywood rumor mill at the time... )
There have been a lot of other presidents too (FDR, JFK, Warren G. Harding that we know about) and there were some where there were rumors (Ike and Kay Somersby, for instance); it didn't make them bad men, only bad husbands.
Other than his shirking duty by being absent for 5 days, Mark Sanford was a pretty good governor, IMO. He still might make a good president. Just sayin’

Fuhgeddaboudit, disgraced Republicans just don't do that kind of thing. But if (in some fantasy) he did run, it would be so amusing to see the rats twist themselves into pretzels on their newfound marital fidelity kick.

Considering the high percentage of infidelity in marriage, it’s going to be nearly impossible to find candidates who haven’t, or won’t do the same. Best to get it out in the open now. They (Ensign and Sanford) can recover from this politically at some time if they do what’s right from this point forward.
