Wilbur Mills ~ Argentine Firecracker ~ that one ended up with a nekkid romp in the Tidal Basin, or was it the Reflecting Pool.

Sanford gets home, finds wardrobe scattered all over front yard... gerbalist: `Governor, a problem at home?’
Heck no, just a misunderstanding: look, she laid my clothes out for me.

Yes, and he brought up hurting his wife just a couple of mentions after saying that he’d hurt his girlfriend.

Sounds pretty low. I didn’t get a chance to see his press conference.

So you think disappearing for five days from his job, without security detail and without any way to be contacted isn’t enough? Ok, throw in the mistress and that still isn’t enough? You think someone, somewhere needs to have more on him for this to be a scandal?

More is coming out. This thing is a mess. Who the hell knows what was going through Sandford’s mind.
To: ABQHispConservative
Yeah it is a sad story for his family and those who supported him. He has hurt a lot of people.

Yep. Now that more info is coming to light, all I can say is what an ass. He should just resign. I know that the other republicans are nothing to write home about, but what he just did is plain stupid. Committing adultery is bad enough, but to disappear for a couple of days is insane.
To: ABQHispConservative
Someone on here wrote that if you disappeared from your job for a week with no notice and no way to be contacted, you'd be fired..... yet the initial comments by his staff and fellow republicans was something about stresses of the job and it wasn't illegal to take a vacation.... just that, excuses.
Lots of people have stressful jobs and lives - but they would not have the excuses made for them if they pulled this stunt.

Had a boss disappear for a week once. He gave no one any notice of any kind.
Finally the Postal Inspectors were called in to see if they could locate him ~ which they did.
Seems that he'd reached that magic date on the federal worker calendar that said "You'all can retire today" so he did.
We didn't miss him ~ fellow named Kennedy as I recall.

The uproar over this is ridiculous. There are more important things to worry about than the man's personal life. It is bordering of the voyeuristic. Shouldn't we be concentrating on more important things, like the economy, bringing jobs to the state, unnecessary expenditures by the government?

BTW, it seems that a federal employee who is eligible for retirement can just walk away and disappear. It’s up to his employing office to fill out his or her retirement papers and have them processed. The employee does not need to give notice.
To: dixie sass
Dixie, do you not care that he just ditched his security detail and disappeared for 5 days? His “personal life” is a reflection of his values - he basically screwed every resident of South Carolina, and all of us who believe in the family values candidates. He made us all look like fools. That is important.
