Marion County health officials suspect a third of students at Fairview Middle School have swine flu.
Though only two cases of the virus have been confirmed at the school, public health emergency response coordinator Jamie Moore said more than 50 students are displaying symptoms of swine flu: sore throat, fever and cough.
As a precaution, Principal Steve Rodriguez says janitors are wiping down doorknobs, railings and other hard surfaces every 45 minutes. Buses are also being disinfected and students are being encouraged to wash their hands.
Marion County Schools Assistant Superintendent Gary Price said 64 students at Fairview Middle were absent Tuesday.
Parents were notified of the situation on Friday and given information about caring for sick children.
Dr on local news in Texas says the only flu circulating is H1N1 so if you have flu symptoms you have the swine flu.
