Florida or not, castle doctrine or not, it’s best to have some warning when people are getting into the house. In other words, if you wake up and find a gun in your face, it’s tough to even reach a hand out get to your own weapon. It’s nice to have some system that lets you know you have incoming. Then you have time to wake up and put the weapon in your hand.
As a single lady, I like the electronics around the perimeter. I had a wonderful young (but tired) dog sleep right through a major house fire, so dogs aren’t the sole answer, either.
first, pardon me, as I replied ot the wrong post...should have been 17, not 18. That may be why my reply seemed a bit out of context to your post.
second, good perimeter awareness and control is prudent. The dog is good for this!
