That could very well be...however...Sanford should have been smart enough to see that coming. You never trust anyone in politics - PERIOD.
He could have easily avoided this fiasco by making a public statement ahead of this - basically...hey this has been a long and arduous fight but the spend thrifts in this state want to further erode our ability to compete - I really need a break to think about the direction of our state and where do we go from here...see you in a week....yada ya ya...

Sanford has always been a bit quirky - which is what I LIKE about him. Unfortunately, this doesn’t look good to a lot of people, and it figures it’s the one potential ‘08 candidate who was dead-set against the stimulus from the start who does this.
I guess we’ll find out...
