If the Jews hadn’t demanded it Pilate would have let him go; don’t you remember him saying “I find no guilt in him” and what of the response of the Jews that his blood would be on them and their children? (Matt 27:25)
In a very real sense the Jews WERE the killers of Christ. In another real sense, so were the Romans who crucified him. And in another real sense, so am I, a sinner.
There is no need to be subtle about it; it is a matter of public record.
