Senators get 705,000-plus letters opposing 'hate crimes'

A special Fed Ex campaign to warn U.S. Senate members of the dangers of the "hate crimes" plan scheduled for a hearing this week dispatched more than 705,000 letters to senators.

But opponents of the proposal say while the letter campaign has concluded, voters still need to be aware of the dangers of the legislation that will be the subject of a hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee Thursday at 10 a.m.

"The Senate Committee on the Judiciary will hold a hearing entitled ' on Thursday, June 25, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. in Room 226 of the Senate Dirksen Office Building," the committee's website announcement confirmed.

Attorney General Eric Holder, who has publicly promoted the bill, S. 909, is listed as the only witness so far.

The letter-writing effort was organized by WND columnist Janet Porter, who also heads the Faith2Action Christian ministry. It allowed citizens to send individually addressed letters to all 100 senators over their own "signature" for only $10.95.

Joseph Farah, WND founder and editor, said, "We don't know of any campaign in history that can document more letters going to all U.S. senators than this one.

"If somebody knows of one, please tell me. Win or lose, this was a unique effort and certainly won't be the last of its kind," he said.

Here in Maryland the police investigate, track and report ‘hate incidents’ which are non-crime politically incorrect insults protected by the first amendment.

Be wary of special protections based on undefined ‘sexual orientation’ which REALLY means sexual desire.

Do you know what’s amazing? Three years ago, a video cam on a school bus caught a black girl pummeling the face of a little white girl, and it was prosecuted in the County Court. The FBI was called because the black girl was constantly harrassing & hitting the white girl in school, and also telling the white girl that the only reasons the white girl got A’s in school was because she was WHITE!

The FBI said that they can’t record it as a hate crime...

U.S. Commission Opposes Hate Crimes Law

The U.S. Commission on Civil Rights has sent a letter to
the Senate opposing the anti-faith Hate Crimes law,
saying the law “will do little good and a great deal of harm.”

The Commission notes that the bill will further federalize
crime — meaning it will give the federal Justice Department
more and more authority to prosecute crimes that have
historically been dealt with at the state level.

As a result of this bill, according to the Commission, “federal
criminal jurisdiction would be expanded to the point where
an astonishing proportion of crimes are now both state and
federal offenses.” The Commission then calls the
federalization of crime “a menace to civil liberties.”

As I have noted, President Obama’s attorney general, Eric Holder,
will appear before the Senate Judiciary Committee this Thursday
in support of the anti-faith Hate Crimes bill.

It is no surprise that Holder supports the bill since it
gives his Justice Department new broad, sweeping powers!
