The courts could force Obama to re-instate Walpin, too. But then of course, Obama could fire him again, the LEGAL way. There could be a political price for Obama, depending on how the other things that are ongoing pan out.

Another thought for Talpin would be to file an injunction to halt the business at AmeriCorps because it has no independent oversight, and is pending Congressional action due to the illegal firing of the existing IG.

That won't work because the office isn't a solo operation. The IG for the Corporation for National and Community Service is head of a team that goes by the acronym "CNCSOIG". The team has about 35 total members. Oversight will continue, just under a new boss, and for now, under an interim or acting boss.
