Iran bars funeral for opposition icon (NEDA)

CAIRO (AP) - It seems there will be no public funeral today for a woman who some are calling "Iran's Joan of Arc."

Amateur video of a young woman identified as Neda bleeding in the streets hit Facebook and YouTube this weekend and swiftly became an iconic image of Iran's opposition movement. Many are calling her a martyr.

The footage appears to capture the woman's death moments after she was shot at a protest. The details of her life and death are difficult to confirm because of the government's media clampdown.

An acquaintance of her family says she worked part-time at a travel agency. The acquaintance also says the government is barring Neda's family from holding a public funeral today.

The acquaintance also says the government is barring Neda's family from holding a public funeral today.

Which raises the question, will the regime increase the opposition to its rule more by allowing a public funeral, or by prohibiting a public funeral?

If true this is a really bad (read stupid) move on the part of the mullahs. This can only backfire. Neda has won the hearts and minds of people from all political directions.

They really like their big public funerals, over there.

The crazy ayatollahs may come to regret this.

All it takes for evil to succeed is for good men to do nothing... Its obvious our “president” isn’t even a good man, so there is little chance for Iran short of complete and open civil war.

Whether they succeed or not, the picture of that poor young woman will become the picture of the corrupt, oppressive regime to the Iranian people. Over the long run, I don’t believe her sacrifice will have been in vain.

The mullahs are in a hole and continuing to dig deeper.

The mullahs are probably just fine with their opponents self-identifying themselves for execution and/or future imprisonment.

The demonstrations aren't taking place anywhere else in Iran. Just Tehran.

Because the Islamic Republic is a theocracy, they are seen as rebelling against Allah. Killing their own people is just fine so that the Iranian mullahs can continue being an apocalyptic genocidal death cult.

Imagine.

Tomorrow if a single C-130 containing AK’s, ammo, and a few stingers were to land the payload in the right hands what would the results be.

It may happen any way, it will not take much to ignite this.

The citizens there already know they have been lied to, are already bloodied, and are on the verge of revolt.

If one of the Military commanders turns, the conflict is on.

How about a B2 (invisible to radar) instead of a C130, then start a rumor that the arms were provided by allah?

Yes, a better approach. Same result. Compliments of someone other than the a—— thing.

Or we could do the cell phone “phone home” routine with a cruise.

There’s an unconfirmed rumor that almost 200 Iranian clerics are about to announce a break with the government over the crackdown, and are going to call for the Assembly of Experts to dismiss Khamenei from being the Grand Ayatollah!

A storm is building. The Iranians have tried the tactics of Ghandi. They don't seem to be working. The mullahs don't want to face what comes next.

Because the left loves dictators, haven’t you figured that out yet? They love thugs and dictators.. look who they worship.. the animals of history.

Stalin, Che, Castro, etc... They love centralized control and abhor the individual. They claim otherwise, but look at their actions, its fairly consistent through history.
