PICTURE: IAI delivers Colombia's first upgraded Kfir fighter By Arie Egozi

Israel Aerospace Industries has delivered the first upgraded Kfir fighters to the Colombian air force.

The company was contracted in late 2007 to modernise 12 Kfirs from Colombia's air force inventory, and to provide several additional examples that had been stored at Israeli bases since the locally built type was phased out of service.

Upgrade activities include equipping the aircraft with new avionics, an EL/M-2032 fire control radar from IAI subsidiary Elta Systems, and a new electronic warfare suite. The modified aircraft will be designated as Kfir C-10s or C-12s, depending on their equipment fit.

The first aircraft, numbered 3054, is pictured at IAI's facilities at Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion airport.

I think that’s a way old design, from the late sixties or early seventies if I’m not mistaken.

Yep.
Looks very derivative of the Dassault designs of the era.
I think Israel flew the Mirage III before that, as well.

Yes, the french imposed an arms embargo on the Israelis, so the Mossad stole the plans for the Mirage III, which were big enough to fill a box car and smuggled it all back to Israel.

They then used the plans to build their own plane.

The Convair F-106 Delta Dart is a supersonic, all-weather interceptor. The single seat F-106A first flew on December 26, 1956, was delivered to and entered operational service with the US Air Force (USAF) in May 1959 and achieved initial operational capability in October, 1959.

My question is this...

How close is it to the South African "Cheetah" is it.

The South African's unless my memory is incorrect were pretty tight lipped about their capabilities and I read somewhere where they considered parts of it classified. Yes Israel supposedly helped in it's development.

This is clone of the Dassault Mirage 5 with a better engine.

Considered as follow-on or variation (clipped vertical stabilizer) to F-102 (Delta Dagger).

That plane looks like a Mirage F-1.

Yes, that's right. The F-102 was the first supersonic fighter jet and the first United States Air Force plane with delta-style wings. The Delta Dagger was not outfitted with guns so it relied solely on a combination of guided and unguided missiles. The F-102 was used from 1956 - 1976.

The delta wing fighters all seem to resemble each other at some level.
