Once again the Obama faction insults the historical heritage of the United States, and once again present day so-called Republicans (unworthy of the name) not only let them get away with it, they cravenly join in.
The Senate has now joined the House of Representatives in a vote purporting to apologize for slavery. Apparently, the current generation of sorry politicos is too ignorant, too stupidly self-righteous or too blatantly manipulative to remember the little episode in American history called the Civil War. As far as they are concerned Lincoln spoke in vain at Gettysburg when he honored the sacrifice of those who gave their lives during the war that ended law enforced slavery in the U.S.:
Now we are engaged in a great civil war We are met here on a great battlefield of that war. We have come to dedicate a portion of it as a final resting place for those who here gave their lives that that nation might live. It is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this. But in a larger sense we cannot dedicate, we cannot consecrate, we cannot hallow this ground. The brave men, living and dead, who struggled here have consecrated it far above our poor power to add or detract. The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here, but can never forget what they did here.
With these profound words of truth literally carved in stone upon the record of our history, how can the soulless, self-serving and treacherous politicians in Congress today presume to do what Lincoln knew he could not: better the deeds- more sincerely eloquent than any hollow legislative resolution-of those who acted on the truth that there are rights worth fighting and dying for. Like Abel's in the first age of this fallen world, their lifeblood still cries out from the ground of every scene of Civil War battle. It reproves the nation conceived in liberty for the long persisted sin that betrayed the self-evident moral truths that made its conception possible. But it also proclaims the proof of ultimate repentance which merits God's forgiveness even while it renders superfluous every word and gesture of succeeding generations except those intended to prevent any repetition of that betrayal.

Its ok with me if Democrats want to apologize for slavery, and jim crow and the klan too while they’re at it.
The foundations of our freedoms have been so eroded that I fear that slavery is exactly what the PTB have planned for the tax paying serfs. True and real slavery, reparations, you know.
- Alan Keyes, June 22, 2009
Also the policy of Reconstruction planted the seeds of most of the racism that exist today.
“we should apologize for them in 2010.”
AMEN!!!!! We need to vote most of the incumbents out of office (Michele Bachmann being one of the exceptions, of course!)!
I believe, if I’m not mistaken, that it gave birth to the KKK.
I believe one reason used by the bigwigs in charge of the major Black "religious" denominations for completely ignoring their own official positions and voting for abortion and "gay rights" is that the people who make up the anti-abortion, anti-gay rights movement are "those people." Because the conservative white Protestants were knuckleheads on civil rights up until forty or fifty years ago their participation in any moral crusade makes it suspect.
Now the thing is, obviously as time passes so do people, and eventually all those people left over who screamed at civil rights demonstrators will all be dead. However, their descendants will still make up the conservative white Protestant churches, and although it will no longer literally "the same people" it will be "the same kind of people" or "the same side of the political spectrum," so the self-righteous rednecks-of-color will continue to stick their noses in the air and look down on the "racist hillbillies" (btw, the hillbillies fought for the Union) who are afraid G-d might actually get mad and punish America for things like "gay marriage." Plus they know the "gays" won't bother them (since fundamentalist, or pseudo-fundamentalist Black chr*stians and gays are part of the One Big Happy Family of the Oppressed) and the Democrat politicians who routinely go out of their way to insult white fundamentalists will never do the same to them but will instead kiss their snake-handling, KJV Bible-banging @$$es (this isn't on the religion board, right?). They have never been asked to alter their religious positions on such things as homosexuality, Biblical criticism, or evolution and they never will be. After all, why should they? They already vote like wealthy northeastern secular humanists. What's a little fundamentalist screaming and prancing and lip service to Biblical inerrancy as long as they vote right?
Alan Keyes is the greatest! I would have voted for him as the first Black President of the USA.
EXCELLENT!!!!!!!
......this supposed apology comes from a Congress controlled by a Party ruthlessly committed to the evil practice of child murder, a more surely fatal betrayal of America’s moral principles than slavery ever was. It comes from political spendthrifts who have bankrupted the nation and fastened upon future generations a burden of enslaving debt more inescapably onerous than physical chains. It comes from a Congress enacting socialist policies in every sphere that will make Government owned slaves of all Americans except favored politicians, bureaucrats and corporate moguls. They mean to make themselves the new masters and overseers not of one race only, but of all humanity
Alan on target—again.
I agree—vote out all who voted and supported the socialism of Obama and his ilk. Exceptions of Duncan Hunter, Michele Bachmann, and a handful of conservatives and blue dogs. Alan Keyes may well be off the wall much of the time but he got this one right!
I get so sick of hearing this crap, which has as its source either Alinskyite Obama supporters or RINO political hacks.
If I had time, I could find a thousand pieces of writing, speeches or interviews that Dr. Keyes has produced over the last 25 years that are of the exact same truthful and powerful nature as this piece.
Alan Keyes is a reparations advocate, so on this subject I’ll take what he’s saying with a grain of salt.
I heard Alan speak once and he go so worked up by the end he was sounding as crazy as a loon.
No, he’s not. His positions have always been consistent with this article. You’re simply continuing the lies of the Obama faction and his RINO enablers.
Yeah, I guess the insipid damp dishrags of the GOP are what you’re looking for. Congratulations.
Look back at the statements Keyes was making during the 2004 Senate race. His proposal was to exempt the descendants of slaves from income taxes for a generation or two. If that isn't reparations for slavery then what is it?
That wasn’t “a proposal.” He was having an academic discussion, trying as he always does to TEACH the people that looking to government for a check is not the way to be a free people.
Fact is, he has always opposed reparations, saying clearly for decades that the debt was paid in blood during the Civil War.
And, the other pertinent fact is that he has consistently advocated the end of the income tax, what he calls THE SLAVE TAX, for ALL Americans.
His comments were twisted and used against him, primarily by RINOs like yourself, because they cared more about destoying Alan Keyes than they did defeating Barack Obama.
The rural areas of the United States have very similar attitudes to the South. They are largely white and don't want minorities in their states. Their attitudes and cultures are in sync with the South. Whenever you get to really rural areas the country music stations predominate. Rural states and states of the South are soul mates. ...An excerpt from Cooney's definition of redneck follows.
The Republican Party precisely because it is a Redneck Party representing Redneck people is a threat to the standing and health of the entire nation. ...
I think Sarah Palin is definitely a Red Neck and many in the Republican Party share her dastardly outlook and philosophy. That's why the red necks are all fired up.
rednecks always face the potential of becoming political fascists. They are the type of people who would support a Hitler. The USA has a great potential for fascism. There have been many examples in American history of the use of fascist methods to get what rednecks want politically: the Palmer raids, McCarthyism, hate radio and the use of torture.Ironically, three relatively recent high profile racial events occurred in the presumed enlightened states of California, New York and Ohio.
rednecks are much more approving of lies in social and political life. The worst of them don't believe in evolution or the green house effect. Many of them believe the the Bible is literally true. And they approve of destroying others by using lies. They don't really care about the truth of political ads, for instance, at least not for the ads against liberals. In fact, rednecks make up falsehoods and then spread them to other rednecks who then tell other rednecks. (I remember how the redneck shipyard workers in Jacksonville, Florida -- where I grew up -- would say that if you go down to the ghetto you will see lots of "n"'s driving around in pink Cadillacs.
rednecks are the backbone of the Republican party. This party's geographic support is from the states of the old Confederacy (and some border states) as well as states that are highly rural. In other words, the areas that are less developed.
