NEW YORK (AP) - Deciding not to report initially on reporter David Rohde's capture by the Taliban for seven months was "an agonizing position that we revisited over and over again," New York Times executive editor Bill Keller said Sunday.

[. . .]

. . . the Times did not reveal his abductors.

Keller told CNN: "The more you talk about who did what ... the more you're writing a playbook for the next kidnapping."

Associated Press Writer Paul Alexander contributed to this report from Islamabad, Pakistan.

Yeah, they can leak government secrets that put soldier’s lives at risk ... but let one of their own be in danger and all of a sudden they are concerned about secrecy.

NYT are traitors unless it's in their own interest to keep their mouth shut.

They should be in jail.

NYT editor: We had to keep mum on Afghan abduction

I guess they also had to keep mum on the fact that the kidnapped reporter was using pages of the koran to wipe his butt for the entire time he was being held.

It’s my thought that the Slimes paid a taliban cell millions of dollars to embed their reporter in exchange for favorable (ala CNN) reporting upon his return.

When a young widow was honored at my son's high school graduation there was not a dry eye in the house. It was heart wrenching. Her husband died in a firefight just five days before he was to return home from Afghanistan.

... "But I also have a responsibility for the people who work for me. I send a lot of people out into dangerous places and their security is also part of my job...."

Hypocrite. Keller and the NYT's make me sick.

Ah, so they aren’t stupid or clueless about what a huge negative impact they usually have, they just don’t give a crap about anyone else.

But you @&&holes could report day after day after day after day on Abu Ghraib, eh?

How I hate the media. I am happy to see them going down the financial tubes.

Too bad the New York Times doesn't apply the same standards for protecting our American soldiers. Usually their the first ones to give information to the enemy - any enemy - of the United States.

Ah, so they aren’t stupid or clueless about what a huge negative impact they usually have, they just don’t give a crap about anyone else.

Think this is precisely the case.

Guess we 'might' allow for a few degrees of stupid and clueless; traits invited by arrogance and hypocrisy. . .but there really can be no question as to their intentions. But then; why. . .how. . .can they say this with a straight face?

Right; the arrogance again; they think we will not get it. . .whatever; these people are unfriking believable
