Watch for the wailing from the anti-gun crowd. Oh wait, the People’s Republic of Maryland has some of the toughest gun control laws in the country.
True, but there are quite a few Marylanders who do legally use firearms to protect themselves, as we see in stories here. Even though we do not have a codified Castle Doctrine, existing case law does give us sufficient precedent that someone who does a firearm to defend one's home from an intruder is most likely not going to be charged with a crime for doing so.
That being said, it'd still be nice to have a real Castle Doctrine as well as Shall Issue policies for concealed weapons permits. But one can dream, right?
