My comment about the 10,000 rocks was tongue-in-cheek. Maybe I expected a little too much from my fellow Freepers and Freepettes since it seemed to fall flat. . :(

Yah, but that word "martyrs" concerns me a little.
BTW, just finished a few days research at the Reagan Library. Did you know that after the 1983 truck bombing in Lebanon, Lebanese Muslim papers called American Marines "martyrs?"

During my Corporate life - I had the opportunity to conduct business in much of Asia, Europe and the Middle East...
In Asia - there is no more professional, trustworthy or reliable business partner than the Japanese..
In Europe - the Czechs hold that position..
In the Muslim Middle East - the Iranians were the ONLY choice as business partners... I came to believe this was as much due to their non Arab ethnicity as to their inherent love of freedom and honesty. From my limited exposure - I will say I didn’t meet an Arab I would trust with anything I held dear.

Perhaps it is time for a few wings of F22's to fly over major Iranian population centers where they avoid radar detection, and drop huge bursts of the United States Declaration of Independence, written in Farsi and Arab. The people might start to see why America is what it is. And it is no evil agent of Satan.
I yet to hear some major speech by zero where he paraphrases all the things George W. Bush had echoed across our land and elsewhere for eight year regarding freedom.
That would really set off the pinkos and far left.

"I have not seen that anywhere else....so the Army is doing something....that is big news...."
I second that one. Perhaps things have not reached a boiling point yet. Once the Iranian regular military decide enough is enough, who know how this all may end up. The IRGC is powerful and brutal, and where partly designed early on to keep the military in line, sort of gestapo, as well as primary to keeping the Grand Ayatolah safe and in absolute power.
But if the will of the admirals and generals with their chief of staffs and officer corp decide it is time to boot the clergy and mad dog from power this all could really change the whole mid east as well as show all two bit dictators in S. America and the far east etc., the gig is up.
It could push back the clock to pre-revolution days this time with a true elected body of democratically minded individuals (how should we say, with education and knowledge of how western democracy operate).
The Islamist back in the days of the Shah's regime really where the reason for the secret police having to come to power and do what they did. Islam forced the hand of the Shah. Otherwise heaven only knows how prosperous and westernize Iran would have become. And they would not have had a war with Iraq most likely.
Perhaps enough brave and old school educated military folks will decide what is the best course for their country.
