Franklin's negotiations, and the victory at Saratoga resulted in substantial French assistance in money and materiel. Not to mention the French attacks on British interests in the Caribbean. The French troops that landed in Rhode Island (and eventually wound up at Yorktown) and the French Navy were just the final efforts at assistance.

Which we won without ANY French help. Like I said, France was bringing treats to the party when it was already winding down. As for my alleged lack of knowledge about history, you can go to hell.
