Does that mean you are rejecting the possibility that the thing can develop into an overthrow of the mullahs?

Does that mean you are rejecting the possibility that the thing can develop into an overthrow of the mullahs? YES. As a matter of fact, the students are wanting to return to CLERICAL rule, & get rid of what they call a "military dictatorship" (not that clerical rule isn't a dictatorship in itself, but that's what they want).
They are NOT fighting for what we (including the non-libertarians & non-constitutionists in the U.S.) call "freedom". They still want a theocracy, not minimal government. Remember that their candidate was responsible for 7,000 executions & is one of the main players in Iran's nuke program.
