I agree. GWB needs to get some wordsmiths on the case, and say something bold.

Exactly, GWB worked to see just this thing... so a little moral encouragement was go a long way right now but Obama dithers...

In Iran we are at a tipping point Bush worked for eight years to get to and it seem Obama is try his best to pull it back and not to see it tip.

If Obama will not tip a teetering Iran... then maybe Bush can tip a teetering Obama...

History can pivot on these type moment with a bold act

Very good. But, things are moving at such a pace and are gaining such ferocity at this moment, that I doubt either one of those men could have much effect on the outcome now.

Still, even if the Iranian people move beyond the point where the statements of foreign leaders have any effect on their situation, the American people at least need to hear from them.

It's pretty late to reply, but if you're still interested I'd say:
1) The individuals why know how to communicate in English over tweeter are not representative of any large group (except what is probably a minority of university students and recent graduates),
2) The leaders using tweeter probably want to communicate with their fellow Iranians more than they do to us. If they get a message to the BBC, then the BBC’s Farsi language broadcasters may get their message to the target audience (which is why the government is blaming the English more than us),
3) Some general statement of support for democracy is a good idea. It may actually hurt the dissenters in Iran by giving the government something external to blame, but since it is what we believe it is something we must say.

On number 3 I would say that a free country that doesn’t speak out about a nation murdering it’s own in the street isn’t much of a country. Government violence against it’s own citizens always need to be condemned.
