You have to be kidding me. No power, no water, no sewer, and the food will be gone in 3 days. It will be absolute mayhem and the people who live outside of the big cities are not going to be in a sharing mood. Those of us who are independent and self sustaining are set up to take care of ourselves, our families and our neighbors. There will be a hoard of refugees streaming out of the cities tired, thirsty, and hungry and they will not be welcomed with open arms. There is a social divide in this country between the beehive socialist mentality of the people in the cities and the rest of our nation. The folks in the cities really need to prepare for bad times and not be thinking that the”government” will be always there to take care of them. New Orleans is a great example of the helpless masses totally unable to provide basic necessities for themselves. Then all they could do was blame everyone else for their predicament.

If you live in an area that is subject to flooding don't you think you would need to have a plan for evacuation and survival? The people didn't, the city didn't and the state didn't. Then the population instigated by the city and state leadership tried to lay all of the blame on the federal government. What happened to taking care of yourselves????? Nagin was and still is a corrupt idiot. Does everyone remember he hundreds of school buses that weren't used??? Wasn't that great leadership from Nagin??? I don't look for much to be different in the other cities when disaster strikes.

Look up on this site and other sites for hurricane preparations. Folks in Gulf coast states do this every year. Very good for this type of onslaught. Shelter, food, water, self defense weapons, battery powered radios, cash, first aid kit, and medications is a good start. Get to know your neighbors and your neighborhood. Look at all the backroads to get out. Look at this as if you will be without ALL modern conveniences for a while and how will you make do. If prepared, it is fairly easy. If not prepared, it can be rough.

Hey look at the bright side...for the corrupt Media. They were able to blame the whole thing on George W. Bush and how mean and uncaring the Republicans are. They were able to shift opinion against the GOP in an instant. I'll never forget seeing the retard Tim Russert reporting with a gleam in his eye how this was the fault of W and the evil Republicans. Not one shred of honesty. He was so thrilled at his gotcha moment - so believing in the Big Lie - and such a nasty and dishonorable part of it.

When people on FR state that Tim Russert was one of the good guys I roll my eyes in disgust. He was every bit as dishonest and corrupt as Brokaw, Couric, Rather, Cronkite. The media should be held accountable for destroying the Republic. I think if they thought they would have to answer for their crimes, they would be shaking in their boots.

exactly Haz. but if one does or must, for now at least have your egress route out previously established and your destination set and your G.O.O.D. bag ready. fuel will be quickly unavailable, have enough on hand for the complete ‘trip’. read John Wesley Rawl’s novels for quite an eye opener, plus some great advice on this subject.
