Actually, she's not even an "executive assistant" (in Hill parlance "Administrative Assistant". She's the Scheduler, a person who reports to the AA and who's job it is to schedule the Bosses' time.

Schedulers on the Hill are invariably women who did well performing as the Rush Committee Chair for their sororities. The younger ones tend to be bobble-head types who are enthralled with their proximity to power. The older ones tend to be angry and bitter, since they realize way too late that being a Scheduler is pretty much a dead-end career (unless they end up as the Congressman's trophy wife).

I worked in the Pentagon right after Lewinsky left. I was in her old office by the Joint Staff and spoke to folks there. They said she had absolutely NO idea how Microsoft Word worked, much less what it even was.
