Sen. Boxer Instructs Brigadier General Not to Call Her ‘Ma’am’
Breitbart TV ^ | 06.18.09 | Andrew Breitbart

Sen. Barbara Boxer of California instructs Brigadier General Michael Walsh not to call her "ma'am," the sign of respect shown by members of the military towards non-military ... she wants to be called "Senator," because gosh darn it, she worked hard for that position.

No further comment necessary, but I'm looking forward to them anyway.

Words fail.

I would have replied, “Kiss my Silver-Starred Ars, Barbie. If you had anything other that contempt for the men in uniform, I might think of showing some respect, but a wringled old midget country hating bee-otch like you aren’t worth the breath required for a three syllable word like Senator, madam”.

Well, I’ll agree that she’s an idiot, but being one of the voters who has never voted for her, well, lots of us aren’t idiots.

With the help of fellow FReepers comments, I sent the following email to the skankator awhile ago:

Ms. Boxer:

In regards to your recent pettiness in correcting a General of the Armed Forces not to call you “ma’am” but instead to call you “senator” because you supposedly “earned the title” (Electing senators is nothing more than a popularity contest. Making false promises to constituents is nothing earned.)

It seems to me that coming from a military officer, “ma’am” is far more of an honorific title than “senator”. This is typical of a feminist that when she is shown respect by a General, by being called “ma’am”, you find a way to be offended. Your problem is that YOU have no respect for the military and the fact that they are protecting your worthless butt.

I also find it interesting that when the Governor of Alaska is called a “slut” by a 2 bit late night talk show host, you suddenly can’t find your tongue to speak in defense of her treatment. By the way there are only 50 governors, but there are 100 senators.

You’re despicable madam.

I’ll tell you exactly how she got the Senate. She was a Marin County Supe when I lived there, and the spectacular Hamilton Air Force Base was available for $1 from the GSA, provide it continued to be operated as an aviation facility. Gnoss Field, the official Marin County Airport, is an awful facility, tailwinds at both ends of the runways from its proximity to a nearby mountain. Further, it’s built on swamp land, the runway is simply not flat and tends to launch airplanes before they’re ready to fly. Many flying clubs actually prohibit renters from going there. Don’t forget the 500+ foot radio towers that are actually IN the traffic pattern.

Anyway, 70% of Marin voters favored making Hamilton the new Marin County Airport, with its long, wide, flat runway and an overwater approach. This didn’t set well with Babs, who had (along with her developer buds) other ideas about this prime hunk of Marin real estate.

She managed to get 3 different aviation propositions on the ballot, effectively splitting the pro-airport vote three ways. The one remaining option, that narrowly passed, was the creation of a “solar village”, kind of what Epcot would’ve been if designed by hippies after pulling at the bong for way too long.

Then they found out all the toxicity everywhere after 60+ years of operating as a military base, and decided the clean up would be too costly. Of course, the first thing they did was destroy the runway and make sure it could never be used as an airport again. Like Meigs Field, this was an irreplaceable facilty.

The Marin Libs LOVED her protecting them from those nasty airplanes, and elected her to the Senate. And she’s been there ever since...

“I worked so hard to get that title”

Boxer was part of the Alan Cranston political machine.

Question: Did she swallow or spit?

*Thank you for posting that...

And here’s something from the other thread that’s right along the same lines:

I can’t find the words to describe my contempt for her. Well, there are, but I’d get banned.

This would have been a good time the officer to use a variation of SNL's classic Dan Aykroyd line:

"Jane Barbara, you ignorant slut."

What a vile and nasty woman in that position. I would call her other names but since I am new I dont want to get banned...:) I will not be calling her senator, if fact even “ma’am” is generous.

Didn’t mean ‘represent’ in the sense of citizens of California. Meant it in the sense of those Californians that vot[ed] for her. My apologies for the imprecision of language.

Not only is 'ma'am' the correct protocol for a Soldier addressing a civilian, but in the Army it is offensive to refer to a superior by their rank.

For instance, Private Snuffy wouldn't address his battalion commander as Major. He'd say 'sir' or 'ma'am'. If he said, "Good morning, Major" instead of "Good morning, sir", he'd have his ass handed to him.

Going down, though, you can address lower ranking people by their last name OR rank. "Hey, Private!" or "Hey, Snuffy!" are both normal.

So, if Boxer wants to be just called "Senator", she's actually subordinating herself to the General, despite his best efforts to be polite. Which is ironic.
