STANDISH, Maine -- Justin Denney's family watched as he ascended the Cumberland County Civic Center stage during graduation Friday night to accept his diploma, but the superintendent told him to return to his seat. The Bonny Eagle High School senior's mother said she can't believe her son's taking a bow and blowing a kiss on stage led was grounds for the superintendent to withhold his diploma. Mary Denney wants an apology, and her son wants his diploma, reported WMTW-TV in Portland, Maine. "I'm like, 'Did she not hand him his diploma?' I'm like, 'What's going on?'" Mary Denney said.

We need to commission a poll: who is the biggest drama queen, the superintendent, the kid, or the mom?
In case you agree with me.

A student at a graduation we attended did a cartwheel on stage.
Actually, as a veteran of many, many graduation ceremonies, I applaud the principal. At every darn one of these ceremonies people are told to hold their applause or in various other ways avoid insisting on narcissistic displays.
Unless the warnings are backed by action, nitwits like this boob will continue to flout the rules. Whistles, blowing kisses and similar antic prolong the agony for everyone.
Why can’t the little dear just climb the steps, walk decorously, play his part and receive his reward? Why does everyone have to be a celebrity?
I say, give the principal a raise.
Give the kid his stupid diploma in a month or two, after the lesson has had time to sink in. He obviously hasn’t yet learned his lesson, so he doesn’t deserve his diploma—yet.
My bad. Give the superintendent a raise, not the principal.
Yeah, rules are so much more important than the fact that apparently this kid EARNED HIS DIPLOMA.
But what is that next to showing off a little bit. Fry him.
It would strengthen her position if she spoke English instead of latter-day pidgin argot.
Stood next to a man in a checkout line and specialty/decorative toothbrushes were sitting on the counter. He picked one up; turned package around and then asked; since apparently he could not find the 'seal'; if these were approved by the American Dental Association. . .
Knew immediately this man was a pathetic; mind-numbed - if not brain dead - Liberal. He then added; that if they were not; they should not be allowed to be sold. Yes; folks, they cannot but help, give themselves away.
I vote for mom!
Same old crap, you are told what the rules are, you break them , then cry “unfair”.
Blowing a kiss is indeed pretty minor, but I have been to a 2000+ graduation, if every kid did something funny, the whole thing would degrade into non-sense. i was proud of all the hard work my son put in, and he came out still a semi-conservative! Hope he can hold on to it thru college too.
. . .and I am sure the audience laughed and applauded. Graduations are great; but even better; when there is some 'relief'.
State run media.
State run education system.
Coming soon - State run medicine.
I never thought, in a million years, I would say this but...
I wish McCain had won. :^(
Did you see what the kid did? It really wasn’t over the top.
I’m like...Mom!!! Like what the hell you upset about? Like, just chill....Like you and he agreed not to make a statement...Like, thats the way it is...
That superintendent sounds pretty old school, to say the least.
I guess if your boss didn’t like the car you drove to work, he should withhold your paycheck until you get a “greener” one.
Cripes. Get over it.
I never attended ceremonies. At high school I told them that I have more important things to do and left for home. At university - I don't even remember, I picked up the diploma at secretary's office a couple of months later. Why to bother attending useless, noisy performances that contribute nothing to your education?
Because it’s narcissistic, that’s why. You don’t like the Narcissist in Chief, do you? If he earned his diploma, let him walk the last ten paces with dignity, like everyone else. Why does he have to be so precious, so special, so individualistic? Obviously the rest of the class didn’t need to focus all attention on themselves, since he’s the only one who got zotted. If everyone did what he did, the ceremony becomes a joke.
Whatever became of public ceremony where everyone plays his part well? Why does everyone have to have his little 5 seconds of special attention?
Rules are there to make life decent for everyone. People who think they are above the rules bring trouble for everyone.
What’s really different about this jerk standing on stage and saying, in effect, “I, I, Me, Me, Look at Me Ma, look at Me everyone ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME”
and Barack Hussein Obama filling his speeches with I, Me, My, Mine constantly? Both are narcissists.
