The Republicans biggest mistake of the last thirty years.
U4prez.com ^ | 6/17/2009 | Eric Gurr

The Republican leadership (whoever that is) has a problem. The party has lost power across the board in Washington D.C. and in many states. The politicians in the party are divided over what needs to be done to regain power. Some advocate a return to conservative principals, neocons still push national defense as the primary issue, and still others believe the party must take a small turn to the left.

The top of the party is clearly divided, and the Democrats love to talk about it. The media is also reporting on this divide and the lack of a clear leader. As the owner of a political website, and someone who spends a good bit of time on political websites like u4prez.com, freerepublic.com, and other sites with political discussion like digg.com and reddit.com, I've discovered that the rank and file Republicans aren't so confused. Gay marriage, and a handful of other social issues may be areas of concern, but the grass roots is strongly united on fiscal responsibility and low taxes.

So how did the Republicans lose so much, so quickly?

By allowing the left to nominate our candidate. We got John McInsane who couldn’t put out a clear vision on anything.

Exactly. We need to hammer home the issues of the economy and the destruction being done to it by Democrats. National Security under these RATS needs to scare the daylights out of most everyone.

Democrats are preventing us from developing a sane energy policy. They're against every form of energy. They want us driving horses and buggies and then they'll tax the horses' farts.

Somehow we must find a way to overcome the power of the press. They shill for Democrats 7/24.

Did Obama give you a clear vision of where he wants to go? No, he ran on two words—hope and change and with the help of the press, the idiot voters in this country bought into the shallow hype.

The BIGGEST mistake was failing to follow through on what Newt Gingrich so brilliantly started in 94

The republicans were IN CHARGE but they tried to be nice and 'inclusive' to democraps, and so let in a bunch of RINO's we now cannot get rid of.

Anyone who has been in office for over 10 years HAS BEEN PART OF THE PROBLEM AND NEEDS TO GO!!!

2010 THROW THE BUMS OUT!!!

Part of the good ideas mention is that republicans will educate the people. Heck they can’t run a decent commerical about Drill Now or Cap and Trade; how are they going to educate if they can’t commnicate?

The truth is we have a nationfull of shallow voters. They don’t want to have to think about their votes. They are too lazy to try to educate themselves and the MSM is more than willing to tell them for whom they should vote.

What about the gov’t’s role in making companies like GM not viable? Labor law and the unions make certain cost-cutting measures not possible. Not to mention mandatory benefits like Medicare and Social Security and the costs of rules and regulations like OSHA etc. This gives foreign manufacturers a distinct advantage.

No only open primaries, but allowing less than 50% to take the win.

This allows a 40% RINO to win the primary when 60% voted against him, split 30-30 between 2 conservatives. The electorate clearly wanted a conservativbe but a RINO walks away with it.

RE-VOTE until someone gets 50%

This happens so often that democraps RUN THEIR GUYS in our primaries as ultra conservatives to steal away some votes.

This is how McLAME won.

Then, after losing many but winning only ONE primary, we allowed the media to proclaim McLame the winner of the whole shootin’ match.

Not having a Vice President run in 2008! I love Dick Cheney, but Bush NEEDED a younger, conservative Republican with whom to prepare to run...Instead, we got stuck with John McCain who was wishy, washy and not Conservative ENOUGH! I’m tired of the bend over, BI-(Crap)partison tone...it’s a code word for democrats to take advantage of weak republicans (Its a wicked emperor mind trick!)

You're all missing the forest for the trees.

There is no Republican party.

The US now has one party with two faces, and that's exactly what those who own the American government want.

There are no changes that the owners of the Republican party will make that will satisfy the "grass-roots".

It will take time (if it happens at all) but the only way American will become the country that most here want is through a new party that can avoid being owned.

Reaching across the aisle & being such 'Honorable Gentlemen'. We didn't vote for Emily Post.

They cave on everything important to their base in order to 'go along to get along'.

They don't have enough back-bone to stand up for Conservative American values & think they will get by with being democRAT Light.

There is no leadership speaking out against what is happening to our country. Not ONE Republican shouting out that what is happening is WRONG. The RATS are going full steam ahead & changing our country into something we can't recognize & where are the Republicans that are voicing their objections?

It is pitiful to see how clueless they are.

The RNC backing RINOS instead of purging them is the biggest mistake.

They're not mistakes...lol

The insiders in D.C. have hoodwinked the population, they're all basically on the same side. For the most part, it's like this from the local level to D.C.

It's good cop bad cop, and the stoopid and easily led continue to fall for this phony charade.

We're dealing with a government that spends money like a drunk lottery winner, and then tells everyone, "Gee, we owe trillions"...."And uh, we'll have to tax ya'all some more".

Whoops, it's those funky rhinos again, it's there fault....Oh sure...the fix aint in....This is just a fluke.

We need to vote them out....gak

Open primaries, and allowing less than 50% to take the win, is exactly what the Pubbie elites want. The country club group runs the party. They took it back and we don't have enough votes to beat them presently.
