I’d just say, “OK” to her request and then not call her anything. No more “ma’am”. No more “Senator”.
Then, if she were to order me to call her that, I’d remind her that the US does not recognize titles of nobility, and therefore any title is one of respect..and she deserves none of that!
Correct me if I’m wrong, but unless you are under the UCMJ, you don’t have to call anyone by a specific title. That’s one of those “free citizen” things, ya know.
Oops. I didn’t notice that she was talking to a General, so the UCMJ does apply.
