That was the other one I thought of. Reagan had terrific wit.
A lot of current Republicans and/or conservatives have wit, too. PJ O’Rourke may be more libertarian than Republican or conservative, but you can’t read his work without acknowledging that he has a tremendous sense of humor. He was the brains behind the Golden Age of Irreverence at National Lampoon.

I wouldn't worry about Republican needing a sense of humor. Letterman needs to get one first.
