Sen. John Ensign (R-Nev.) has acknowledged an extramarital affair with a campaign staffer in a statement released by his office. "I deeply regret and am very sorry for my actions," said Ensign. He is expected to announce the affair at a press conference at 6:30 pm tonight. The affair, which was with a woman who worked for both Ensign's re-election campaign and his Battle Born leadership political action committee, began in December 2007 and ended in August 2008. Ensign's wife, Darlene, said that the couple's "marriage has become stronger" and added: "I love my husband."

Very well said, plus Ensign is not up again until 2012. But I think this will affect any presidential aspirations he may have.

I'll still vote for him. I'm tired of the double standard and he's been one of our better politicians here in Nevada.

He should follow Arlen Spectre to the JACKASS party where they reward such behavior.

big deal .. obama is taking companies out from under people, destroying the markets, pillaging the financial future of American children, allowing terrorists to walk free on beaches, throwing israel under the bus, kissing the butts of terrorist sponsoring states - doesn’t even prove he is eligable to be doing all this as leader of the free world.

but this will be BIG news .... MSM will be all over this

hell Caligula would be a better leader than Obama ...

Ensign voted for the bank bailout. He can go to hell.

“Why does there have to be a press conference. Good grief, its nobody’s business but his wife’s. “

Probably knows a rival has the info or that the broad is going to blackmail him over it and reckons it better to beat them to the punch.

They were in the wrong party. Somebody slipped up at the sign up table. We must be more vigilant.

This is the Clinton FBI files at work. All Repubs will get outed for things like this or more minor things while Dems commit felonies and nothing is ever mentioned.

My first thought was that he’s getting this out of the way early so he can run for office in 2012, when this will be old news. I don’t see why this disqualifies him when there is so much time before the primaries. People are pretty tolerant nowadays, especially if he can honestly say it only happened that one time. Although the lefties will definitely make hay out of his defenses of traditional marriage.

Would you rather find out about Ensign’s extracurricular activities now, or in the middle of the 2012 Presidential campaign?

Yep. If he’ll screw his wife over, think what he’ll do to us.

I meant perceived hopefuls. I want a conservative, but the media and the dems are trying to call out every moderate with an R by their name as our next best hope.
