OKLAHOMA CITY The paramedic who scuffled with an Oklahoma highway police officer while a patient waited inside the ambulance says the trooper should lose his badge.
Maurice White Jr. said Tuesday on the CBS "Early Show" that trooper Daniel Martin was in a state of rage when he stopped his ambulance and totally disregarded the patient's safety.
Martin stopped the ambulance May 24 for failing to yield.
White says he got out of the ambulance to tell the trooper they were taking a patient to the hospital. The argument quickly escalated into a scuffle and Martin put White in a choke hold.

Congrats on watching the video...Indeed that's what 99% of us are seeing. (The last 1% just like to be wrong and pig headed)
You need to click on the link in post #36. I did and it changed my mind.
Indeed. Have you read White’s statement? Excerpt:
“The officer then approached me while shouting you are under arrest for obstructing a police officer.
When he grabbed my right arm I asked him if he was aware that he was committing a felony by
assaulting a Paramedic in the line of duty. He seemed to become even more enraged and attempted to
maneuver my right arm behind my back in order to hand cuff me. The fact that he could not
accomplish this seemed to enrage him even more.”
You put your career at serious risk by IGNORING THEM.
This is all covered in your training as an LEO. Unless, of course, you went to sleep on that part.
Oh I see... So you think it is okay to pullover an ambulance with a patient in route to the hospital and under color of law? Physically attacking another human who is helping another human with a medical condition?
The choke hold was longer than a frames and I have some doubt that you have seen both videos.
Of course if you woke up looking for an argument....
Actually, now that I have looked through your posts I guess that is just the way you are.
BTW, everyone on this board has a lot of respect for Peace Officers including me as a former Sheriff Explorer.
This guy needs to find a new vocation and eat jello to ease that burning in his stomach.
And a really critical excerpt from White’s statement:
“Note: One last very disturbing Fact. After we had arrived at Prague hospital, officer 606 told my
partner, Paul Franks that he had determined in his mind to escalate to pulling has service revolver and
using deadly force. Again, this was all due to the mistaken idea that he (606) he had been flipped off.”
Under the circumstances, I’m quite confident that the trooper actually said this. I really hope somebody else overheard it.
EMT White’s mistake was that he got out of the ambulance. If you get out of the vehicle on a traffic stop without the officer’s permission, you are in a whole heap of trouble. If the officer is real nice, he’ll ask you to get back into the vehicle. If the officer is not, he’ll arrest you on the spot.
I am an EMT and have often driven an ambulance. I am shocked at this.
The manager emt was attempting to ascertain why they are being delayed in getting their patient to the hospital. A rational policeman would have allowed them to proceed to the hospital, instead of wanting to win a pissing contest.
The policeman proved he has very bad judgement, and is not the least interested in serving the public.
This can't be dissmissed as a simple traffic stop. From the beginning it made no sense, the video shows that, the officer was never impeded from going down the road, and the ambulance driver did no wrong.
More than likely the cop thought this was a bunch of black people out joy riding in a tribal ambulance.
SunTzuWu:
Your post is unusual. Did you see both videos?
BTW, love the pics. Was that you yesterday? Too funny.
NONSENSE.
“arrest anybody he has to to ensure that he maintains control of the scene.”
He never tried to establish the slightest control of the scene. He let people wander all over, inflamed them with foul language, placed everyone at risk in numerous ways, allowed people to climb in and out of the ambulance.
He let his temper run the stop. That is, run the stop that his temper caused him to make. Extremely poor policing in every way. And don’t kid yourself, race was a factor.
You may want him for his physical strength, I would like him for his moral strength. He was the supervisor of the rig and immediately put himself between the trooper and the driver, and watching the dashcam video, it's clear that he read the situation correct from the start, the trooper started out by stating he was aiming to cite the driver for failure to yield. Can't say that I've ever worked for a supervisor who was ready and willing to stick their neck out for an underling like that.
That was the perfect response, bamahead. The officer was unprofessional and should not carry a badge. He is a danger to himself and everyone else. People with rage issues are not fit to serve. I felt badly for the EMT while I saw the video of this incident. He was treated very poorly and brutally. Yet the EMT responded in a civil manner to all that harsh treatment. I say give the EMT a medal for being a nice guy even when jerks attack.
