According to the Cyrus News Agency, Tuesday morning 16 senior members of Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps were arrested. "These commanders have been in contact with members of the Iranian army to join the people's movement," CNA reports.

Thank you.
The reason why I asked about the article or Timmerman’s mention is because my graduate studies is in terrorism. One of my class papers was on Iran’s long history of ignoring and violating international law; a sub-section in the paper dealth with the Iranian Republican Guard.
Thanks again for sharing what you have.
Correction to post #60: Republican Guards should be Revolutionary Guards..sorry.
So, yes, I would say that article you posted yesterday hit the mark.
Terrific news!
The evil Guards need to be eliminated. The Army must be the protector of the people!
Look at the Russian revolution, the army took the side of the people. Countless other revolutions have the army deciding that beating and killing their own people is out of bounds of their job descriptions.
I’ve heard that the leadership has imported arabs from Lebanon to help patrol the streets and beat people. I’ve seen reports that some of the attackers are speaking arabic, not farsi.
This is the last gasp of a dying regime. Let’s hope it dies quickly.
It could be a action by the mullahs to stave off further dissent among the fear inducing Republican Guard.
And a warning to others not to consider it.
The longer this goes the better for the people of Iran. The mullahs know this so expect the violence to escalate as they try to snuff this thing out fast.
The international coverage today has given Ahmanutjob a bloody nose. Let’s keep it running.
But of course we have Obama. No chance.
Wonder who the Army reports to....some General could make a big name for himself here....real soon.
‘Immortals.”
Best scene of the movie. That it got the little chimp upset made it even better.
Saddam in Iraq had the Republican Guards.
The Iraqi Revolutionary Command Council is a Shia group supported by Iran.
The Guardian is now reporting that 12 Iranian students killed in crackdown after violent clashes
http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2009/jun/15/iran-students-protest-election-results
And... the Brisbane Time is now reporting an additional 7 Iranians killed in clash with military. No details yet.
This situation will get out of control, albeit briefly, once the military actively sides with the revolution.
Saddam was a raving socialist madman who hated the US and was a buddy of the Soviets.
he would be a swell guy who hated the Shiite Persian Iranians like us.
Speak for yourself. My admiration goes to the Shah and the nationalist, westernized, secular, excellently educated Iranians. The socialist Arab thugs ala Baath had nothing on our allies who fought with us during the Cold War and saved Israel from the Arabs through vital supports of Oil and arms.
Just d@mn.
I look at those students and compare them to OUR college students (vast majority) and I see them voting for THEIR freedoms while ours vote to take it away with a socialist pig in the White House.
God, I hope so. I’m afraid this regime has plenty of other traps to spring on its own people. It’s certainly happened before. These people would gladly kill all their children to “save” them.
Republican Guard.
Please forgive me but I’m lost without my glasses at night.
They are in the shop. ;o)
Did I hear somewhere that security was sent to Rafsanjani’s home to “protect” him?
I think he supported...Lord you have me here...I can’t read well enough with my old glasses to search or c/p...A’s opposition.
Is that correct?
If so...dang!
