I don’t know the exact spelling, but phonetically it’s something like “per-es-e-den-toe-bah-ma”.

"The Persian Iranians (who define themselves that way) are the guys who backed the Shah, who was the most modern, western and dashing middle eastern personality ever. Real, nationalistic Persian Iranians hate islamic-arabic culture and are feverishly proud of their pre-islamic culture. "

Thank you so much for your kind words about the Shah. He did so much for his people, only to be betrayed by that braying ass, Carter. Most people can't understand how wonderful and beautiful Iran was before the election. The people did so much better under his guidance than most.

And the liberal sickness is even here in the most conservative of the Bible Belt states, even in the small universities.

It's disgusting. I've been fighting their tobacco ban and plan on fighting their good food ban when it hits.

They don't understand it's about freedom and that I have the right to smoke if I'm away from those that might be bothered by it, even if it just makes their panties get in a tight knot.

Actually, let me say something that I’ve never said before...the liberals at my university and in my little corner of the world disgust me.

"After the Shah was overthrown the crazies went about killing many who were Shah backers."

They also turned on their comrades, the communists, and butchered them.

If this retaking of Iran by Iranians happens, there will be a whole lot of pay back just as there was previously.
That’s why those in power fight so hard and dirty.

“They don’t understand it’s about freedom and that I have the right to smoke if I’m away from those that might be bothered by it, even if it just makes their panties get in a tight knot.”

That’s the key. They have let their emotions get in the way. When government or NGO’s start spewing “facts” they get all uptight and believe they are doing good.

But, my favorite quote says it all.

“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.” - C.S. Lewis

Pretty good show called, "The Queen and I", by a lady who when young was a communist against the Shah. She interviews Iranian Queen Farah in France.

The docutarian's two brothers, communists too, were arrested after the Shah left and the 17 year old one was hanged.

I didn't get to watch all of it because the text was small and white so it was hard to read, so I gave up...well, until I decide to watch it on the big screen TV where I can read the writing.
