Police were called early Sunday to the home Manuel Salvador Morales Jr. shared with his parents because relatives said Morales was threatening himself with knives. Police spokesman Tom Nichols says two officers confronted Morales, who was armed and failed to comply with their commands. No additional details about the confrontation or how Morales was armed were released.
Nichols says Officer Albert Riccardi fired two shots at Morales, who was hit twice in the torso and pronounced dead at a hospital.

Was there a tiny dog standing behind the man? Might’ve been what the officers were trying to hit.
Where were their tasers? All tied up taking out 70 year old women?
This guy wanted someone to talk him out of it...but the parents called the wrong parties. That’s a common mistake of us all and it most always turns out a sad situation.
Someone expresses they want to kill themselves and we call someone carrying guns just to get the guy w/a knife to put the knife down. Thus enters 2 “save the day” cops in possibly military swat gear ready to destroy the enemy.
Haven’t seen the story of cops shooting the 92yr old woman...or the 18yr old girl in the park wanting to kill herself w/a pen knife(shot 15 times)...and many, many more stories.
A licence to murder is what local governments have given to a degenerate society of wanta be snakes.
Already been used.
Do you realize not all police officers are issued tasers?
21-feet
“It is common knowledge that a suspect, armed with an edged weapon and within twenty-one feet of a police officer presents a deadly threat. Why? Because the average man can run that twenty-one feet in about one-point-five seconds; the same one-point-five seconds it will take that police officer to recognize danger, draw and point his weapon, and then pull the trigger. Even if the officer manages to get the shot off, and even if it hits the suspect; even if it instantly disables the suspect, the blade is going to be so close to the officer that the suspects momentum may continue forward with enough force for the edged weapon to end up injuring the officer anyway.”

I think the clue here is that he was threatening to kill himself. If a person is going to kill themselves, likely there will be little hue and cry. How do you suppose he conveyed that information to his family, frightened them enough to call the police, who were likely a minimum of some blocks away? This is several minutes of time.
I find it highly unlikely that a drunken schizophrenic threatening to kill himself is going to be quiet or peaceful. The police probably heard him screaming as soon as they entered the house, and automatically pulled their guns. He was probably thrashing about as well, knife in hand, close to incoherent.
In such close quarters, nobody is going to let a lunatic anywhere near them with a knife flailing around.
But, in the final analysis, even if there is much follow up to the story, it won’t contain the emotional impact of what actually happened.
“Ah well bullets do sorta the same thing. Fire away!”
Factor...here’s a good one...one of many right here on FR.
Title:POLICE SHOOT KILL WOMAN WHO THREATENED SUICIDE
March 07,2009
congrats on winning my 'post of the day.'
how in the heck do you know that?!? mind-boggling that you are venturing into the mind of a paranoid schitzo and presenting it as fact.
Thanks for “The Post of the Day” award.
Do you give these out just on weekdays...and weekends to?
I mean there were several days that..well..I had some.. what I thought were some really, really ..outstanding posts.Well..I was just wondering maybe you could go BACK??..(maybe several months)check my posts?
“how in the heck do you know that?!?”
One doesn’t have to have a degree in Psychology to know he hadn’t made the decision to kill himself..or he’d been dead shortly after he picked up the knife.
What’s really mind-boggling is.. you read the same thing everyone else on here read but YES I am venturing into..well..huh?...are you a cop?If you are ..you don’t apparently realize WE the public have a problem w/YOU..the COP continually being the “PER-PE-TRAT-OR.”
If your not a cop...and and don’t read much news...well...(I’ll give that much),but if you read news about current happenings w/law enforcement today and still can’t make a decision between what’s right and what’s wrong?..your just too dumb to talk to.Of coarse..then..this is just a Blog where people speculate on news all the time..or we wouldn’t have a need to to talk about it...now would we?
The average living room is 16’ x 16’. What’s a cop to do?
Reading the article and noting they were called to save the guy they decided to shoot is crystal ball analysis?
Are you on the Pulitzer committee?
Well in most places the procedure is to call in a specialist who is trained to talk people down. But I suppose the way you, Cathy, and these guys prefer (just shoot 'em) is cheaper.
Unfortunately, we are at a point in this country where ‘not complying with orders’ is an executable offense. No trial needed, because some Offical of the State may have felt threatened.
What's the penalty for not payting your electric bill in LA?
